Baby Loss Awareness Week
Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place every year from 9 to 15 October. It is a time to remember babies lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth, raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss, and come together in support and remembrance.
Throughout the week, charities, healthcare organisations, workplaces and communities across the UK help shine a light on the impact of pregnancy and baby loss, while challenging the silence and stigma that can still surround it.
We work alongside more than 100 charities and organisations during the week, helping to raise awareness, share support, and ensure no one feels alone in their experience of loss.
Support during Baby Loss Awareness Week
While Baby Loss Awareness Week can feel comforting and connecting for many people, it can also bring difficult emotions, particularly with increased conversation and social media activity around pregnancy and baby loss.
Please take things at your own pace during the week, and step away from social media or events whenever you need to.
Our support services remain here for anyone affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy.
During the week
Raising awareness
Throughout the week we’ll be sharing stories, information and ways to get involved across our social media channels and email, helping to raise awareness of pregnancy loss and the importance of compassionate support and understanding.
You can follow us on:
Pin badges
One way to mark the week is by wearing a Baby Loss Awareness Week pin badge.
Pin badges are available year-round from our online shop, with funds helping to support our work supporting people affected by pregnancy loss.
You’re welcome to share photos during the week using the hashtag #BabyLossAwarenessWeek and tagging us on social media.

Global Wave of Light
The Global Wave of Light takes place on 15 October at 7pm local time.
People around the world light candles in memory of the babies they have lost, creating a continuous wave of light across the world.
Many people share candle photos online using the hashtag #WaveOfLight, helping create a visible moment of collective remembrance and support.

Our online Wave of Light event
Join us online at 7pm on 15 October for a special evening of remembrance as part of the Global Wave of Light.
Together, we’ll light candles, read aloud babies’ names and special dedications, and close with a poem of remembrance. The event is led by our volunteer support group leaders and is open to anyone who would like to take part.
Booking details will be shared closer to the time. You can sign up to our newsletter for updates, check back here nearer October, or contact us if you have any questions.
Turning the UK pink and blue
Each year, landmarks, hospitals, bridges, stadiums and public buildings across the UK light up pink and blue for Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Many people also choose to create their own displays at home using lights, candles or decorations as a personal act of remembrance and awareness.

Other events and remembrance activities
During Baby Loss Awareness Week, many organisations and communities hold remembrance events, awareness activities and opportunities to come together both online and in person.
