Partners support group volunteer

We’re looking for someone to help create a safe and understanding online space for partners affected by pregnancy loss.

Why this group matters

Our online support groups are a welcoming space for everyone impacted by pregnancy loss. However, we recognise that partners (i.e. those in a couple who don’t experience the physical loss) may have their own unique experiences and need a space where they feel acknowledged and supported.

By creating a dedicated partners peer support group, we hope to offer a safe and understanding space where people can share their experiences with others who truly understand.

This group aims to help partners:

  • feel less alone
  • feel heard and supported without judgement
  • connect with others who understand the unique challenges of supporting a loved one while coping with the impact of pregnancy loss.

About the role

You don’t need to have the answers — what matters most is your ability to listen with empathy, be non-judgmental, and create a safe, welcoming space.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Facilitate supportive conversations
  • Run online meetings via Zoom
  • Commit to around two hours per month for meetings
  • Share understanding from your own experience
  • Work with Miscarriage UK to create a safe space

We will provide training and ongoing support to ensure your volunteer experience with us is positive.

By giving your time, you can make a real difference to people who may otherwise feel isolated and unseen.

How to apply

We are keen to hear from people who have had their own lived experience as the partner of someone who has had a physical pregnancy loss (or losses) as we intend for this group to be led by and for partners. We particularly encourage men to get in touch, as we know male partners are often under-represented when it comes to support available.

If you’re interested in volunteering, or would like an informal chat about the role, please contact our Volunteer Lead, Juanita Charles.

We’ll be happy to answer any questions and talk you through what the role involves.

All applications will be reviewed, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to a relaxed, informal interview.

NB: As part of our commitment to safeguarding, we will carry out a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check of all individuals in this role. Becoming a volunteer with us may depend on an assessment of any criminal record disclosed.

Why volunteer with Miscarriage UK

Supporting others after pregnancy loss can be a meaningful way to use your own experience to help people feel less alone.

Every volunteer brings something unique, and we’ll support you throughout your journey with us.

“It is so rewarding using my experience to help others… I am so grateful that something so negative has led to me being a part of something so positive.”
